Final report

Dear students,
Some weeks ago my class (7C) went to Ireland, Dublin for 2 weeks.
Genarelly I would like to say that the journey was very nice.
My hostfamily named Dooley was a nice one.
Carmel my hostmom was very friendly and helpful.
First of all I would like to say most Irish are very religious people.
My hostmom was Catholic but she understood why I wasn't.
The rest of my hostfamily, the 2 children & the father were also very nice but actually I didn't see them very often.
On our first day in Ireland we watched the St.Patrick's Parade.
Actually we tried to see something because the streets were so crowded.
St.Patrick was a Christian missionary and he is the patron saint of Ireland.
He was born in Britain.
We he was 16 he was catpured by Irish raiders and taken to Ireland as a slave, where he lived for 6 years before escaping and returning to his familiy.
St.Patrick explained God using a shamrock.
Nowadays the shamrock is a symbol of Ireland.
St.Patrick died on March 17th , that's why St.Patrick Day is celebrated on March 17th.
Also Glendalough was a place we visited during our stay in Ireland.
Glendalough was founded by St.Kevin in the 6th century.
A story tells that once a bird laid an egg into the palm of his hands.
St.Kevin didn't want to destroy the egg so he didn't move until the egg hatched.
Glendalough is famous of the round tower.
The round tower is so special because it's a 30 meter high tower without doors.
Glendalough is siuated between 2 lakes.
For me the most exhausting afternoon programme was the Easter Rising Walking Tour.
The Easter Rising started on Easter Monday April 1916.
The important goal of the Easter Rising was political independence for Ireland and the establishment of the Irish Republic.
The Easter Rising was one of the first events to help to establish the Irish Republic.
The important buildings for the Easter Rising Walking Tour were: Trininty College which was the hiding place for the Protestants, the National Bank, Dublin Castle, Abbey Theatre and the General Post Office.
Later at the GPO the declaration of independence was read out.
The trip I liked most was the trip to Galway.
Galway is a small city, maybe that's why I liked it so much.
Our hostel was in Lisdoonvarna which is 80 km away from Galway.
On our way back to Dublin from Galway we vistited the livestone plateau on the west coast named, the Burren.
That was very beautiful and it was one of the best sights we saw.
I would like to visit Ireland again but at the age of 21 and without school or any language courses.
